Gas War in Spokane: $0.58–$0.99 Gas Deals Spark Holiday Price War (2026)

Hold onto your hats, Spokane! Gas prices have taken a nosedive, and it's a wild ride! On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, two local gas stations engaged in a price war that sent fuel costs plummeting. Buckle up, because it's a rollercoaster!

It all started with Hamilton Market, located at 1918 North Hamilton Street, which kicked off the price war by dropping their regular gas to a holiday special of $1.97 per gallon. Not to be outdone, the Mobil station across the street quickly responded, slashing their price to $1.99 per gallon.

But the story doesn't end there!

  • UPDATE: December 10, 2025, at 4:05 p.m.: Hamilton Market decided to go even lower, dropping their price to $1.93 per gallon. Mobil, in a flash, countered with $1.95 per gallon. The competition was fierce!

  • UPDATE: December 10, 2025, at 5:21 p.m.: Hamilton Market announced a further drop to $0.99 per gallon for regular gas, starting at 6 p.m. that evening, but only for an hour. The demand was so high that they were worried they would run out of gas before 7 p.m.!

  • UPDATE: December 10, 2025, at 6:12 p.m.: In a final act of price-cutting drama, Mobil dropped its unleaded gas price to a jaw-dropping $0.59 per gallon in response to Hamilton Market's price. Hamilton Market then one-upped them by dropping their price to $0.58 per gallon.

Joey Bains, the Manager of the Mobil on Hamilton Street, highlighted the ongoing competition, explaining that they reacted to Hamilton Market's earlier price cuts.

And this is the part most people miss... While these stations were battling it out, the average gas price in Spokane County was around $3.68 per gallon, according to AAA Fuel Prices. This makes the price cuts even more significant.

NonStop Local staff at the scene reported increased traffic as drivers rushed to take advantage of the bargain prices. It's a clear example of how competition can benefit consumers!

But here's where it gets controversial... Do these temporary price drops really make a difference in the long run? Or are they just a fleeting moment of relief? What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
