A Life Remembered: Clodagh Blighe’s Legacy of Courage and Love
It’s with a heavy heart that we share the news of Clodagh Blighe’s (née Cussen) passing—a woman whose strength and grace left an indelible mark on all who knew her. But here’s where it gets truly inspiring: even in the face of a prolonged illness, Clodagh bore her struggles with unparalleled dignity and courage, leaving behind a legacy of resilience that will forever be cherished.
Clodagh, a resident of Manor Court, Knocknacarra, Galway, and formerly of Wexford and Drogheda, peacefully departed on November 30th, 2025, surrounded by the love of her devoted family. Her journey may have ended, but the memories she created will endure, especially for her adoring husband, Fred, and their beloved sons, Morgan and Christian. And this is the part most people miss—Clodagh’s impact extended far beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of her heartbroken parents, Michael and Rita, her siblings Pat (Dublin), Jim (Drogheda), and Orlaith (Wicklow), as well as a wide circle of relatives, including brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, and nieces and nephews like Kai, Christopher, Dylan, Joshua, Ziva, Lainey, Kory, Zara, and Jonny. Her extended family, neighbors, and countless friends, including her loyal companion Buster, will all attest to the warmth and kindness she radiated.
Controversial Yet Thought-Provoking: In a world that often measures success by material gains, Clodagh’s life reminds us that true wealth lies in the love we give and receive. Isn’t it time we reevaluate what truly matters? Share your thoughts in the comments—do you believe a life well-lived is defined by the connections we foster rather than the possessions we accumulate?
As we bid farewell to Clodagh, let’s honor her memory by embracing the values she held dear. Her gentle soul, now at peace, will continue to inspire us all. To pay your respects, Clodagh will repose in St. Anthony’s Room, adjacent to St. John the Apostle Church in Knocknacarra (H91 W0H4), on Wednesday, December 3rd, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by her removal to the adjoining Church. The Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, December 4th, at 12 noon in St. John the Apostle Church, with the funeral proceeding to Shannon Crematorium for a private family service. Please respect the family’s privacy by keeping the house strictly private at all times.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Galway Hospice, a testament to Clodagh’s compassionate spirit. For those unable to attend, the Funeral Mass will be livestreamed—click here to join. If you’d like to leave a message of sympathy for Clodagh’s family, please do so in the condolence section below.
