Spring is just around the corner, and with it comes the perfect opportunity for some thorough spring cleaning! If you’re a West Seattle resident, mark your calendars for two exciting recycle and reuse events happening in March and April 2026 that can assist you in decluttering your home while being environmentally conscious.
MARCH 21: This date is significant as it marks the annual recycling and reuse event hosted by the West Seattle Junction Association (you can find them at https://wsjunction.org/) in collaboration with the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce (https://wschamber.com/). This event is made possible through partnerships with several organizations dedicated to accepting a wide range of recyclable and reusable items. While we don’t yet have all the details for this year’s event — including any potential changes to the location compared to previous years — you can rest assured that this date is set in stone for your recycling needs.
APRIL 25: On this day, Fauntleroy UCC (check out their calendar at https://www.fauntleroyucc.org/calendar) will hold its biannual Recycle Roundup. Though it's just one organizer, they provide an extensive list of items that will be accepted, particularly electronics, and they typically have ample capacity for collections. Although we're unable to share the specific accepted items just yet — as it’s a bit early for that — we generally publish this information well ahead of time.
IN THE MEANTIME: If you can’t wait until these events to get rid of some items cluttering your space, don’t worry! You can explore options for disposal using the Seattle Public Utilities' "Where Does It Go?" lookup tool available at https://www.seattle.gov/utilities/your-services/collection-and-disposal/where-does-it-go#/a-z. This resource can help you figure out how to properly dispose of various items right away!
So, are you ready to tackle that spring cleaning? Have you attended one of these events before, or do you plan to check them out this year? Share your thoughts and let’s discuss ways we can all contribute to a cleaner environment!
